Looking for warm winter ride recommendations

Post by OHjim »

I have the week between Christmas and New Year's off and am thinking about finding a warm location to ride. Last year at this time, I went to Texas Hill Country. It was fun, but thinking about trying somewhere different this year, but I am open to go back. I'm thinking that about 12 hrs drive is my limit - so for instance Arizona would not work. I will be trailering the bike. Any recommendations?

Jim, The Texas Hill County is great but looking for another option consider Big Bend area of Texas. However watch the weather. I hauled bikes last Christmas and only got one day of riding. It was 80 degrees along the Rio when a front came through. By the time we got back to Alpine it was 28 degrees and spitting sleet. The next day everything was covered in a sheet of ice.

Another place worth checking out is Mississippi and Louisiana. The food is fantastic and there is a lot of great history and some nice roads.
